OUR GRAVEL RIDES
Our Group Rides On Hold For Now
The VeloPigs season is on hold right now. We hope we can pick up again soon and update everyone when we can start up again. Stay safe, everyone and if you can ride, feel free to use this season’s ride links found further down on this page.
Help Us Share the Love of Gravel Biking
The VeloPigs is a community of gravel cyclists who share a love for adventurous and challenging rides (and beer) in Loudoun County and other Northern Virginia areas. We offer year-round club rides, organize groups to attend local gravel event rides, and support each other as we pursue our cycling goals.
Our members have a broad range of cycling interests, ranging from gravel and mountain biking to road riding. Some of our members race and compete in ultra-endurance events to work up to doing their first century. All ride abilities are welcomed to join in.
The Virginia Department of Transportation’s current inventory shows a little over 15,000 miles of gravel has these gravel routes. Most of our group rides start either from the Loudoun County High School or Plum Grove Cyclery in Leesburg, VA.
Weekly Gravel Rides
Because of Covid-19, we have decided to NOT to have organized club rides. Our members are organizing their rides in smaller groups. Feel free to reach out to members via our Facebook page.
Once things open up again, we will start to have our weekly rides (weather permitting) year-round, alternating between starting location. Please check our calendar for the details for each week’s ride.
PLEASE NOTE: Although we do not want to leave anyone behind on these rides, we encourage you to show up to these rides on time and with the right fitness level out of respect for your fellow riders. We don’t want people waiting around for lengthy periods in cold and sometimes very wet weather. A few minutes here and there is not a big deal, but waiting 20-30 minutes for regroups is where folks start to get cranky because they didn’t have their Snickers Bar.
